Stanford in 2024

Preparations are underway for the celebration of Charles Villiers Stanford’s centenary year in 2024!

If you would like to get involved with the events of Stanford in 2024, please do contact the society.

We would love to hear from music societies, composer societies, academics, composers and musicians but if you aren’t any of these but still have an interest in Stanford’s music, please do get in touch!

Take a look at our calendar for all of the events happening to celebrate the centenary of Stanford’s death in 2024.

2024 Working Group

A small section of the Stanford Society Trustees have set up a 2024 working group which aims to plan events and liaise with orchestras and other composer societies head of the 2024 centenary of Stanford’s death. Plans are progressing well, but if you would like to join this working group, please do get in touch. Equally if you are a music society or orchestra and would like some guidance on good works to include for 2024, we’d love to hear from you!

Stanford Festival Weekend 2024

We are currently planning for our 2024 Stanford Festival Weekend which will be in Dublin, Stanford’s homeland. It is likely there will be a symposium and a number of concerts taking place within the city and we are hoping to organise an exhibition of some of Stanford manuscripts.
